Progress chart titled “Help us reach $10,000”. $6,850 raised so far of a $10,000 goal (69%).
How to use it
- In the data row, put a short label (“raised so far”), the amount raised as Current and your target as Goal.
- Write a title that asks for help (“Help us reach $10,000”) and put the date of the update in the subtitle.
- Use the Riso, Sunset or a custom palette in your organisation’s colours, then save it as your brand kit.
- Download at 4:5 for the feed or 9:16 for stories. Next update, change one number and export again.
Why thermometers work
A thermometer shows two things at a glance: how far you’ve come and how much is left. Behavioural research on the goal-gradient effect (Kivetz, Urminsky & Zheng, 2006) found that people put in more effort as they get closer to a finish line. Fundraisers often see the same pattern near their target.
Show the remaining amount as well as the percentage. “$3,150 to go” is a concrete ask a supporter can help close.

Questions
How do I make a fundraising thermometer?
Type what you have raised and your goal into the studio above. The thermometer fills to the right height, prints the percentage and how much is left to go, and you download it as a PNG for social posts, emails or your donation page.
Is this goal thermometer free?
Yes. It is free with no sign-up and no watermark. Your numbers are kept only in your browser, so next week you just change the raised amount and download again.
What size should a fundraising thermometer graphic be?
For Instagram feed posts use 1080×1350 (4:5); for stories and Facebook stories 1080×1920 (9:16); for Facebook, LinkedIn and email headers a landscape 1200×627 works well. All are in the export size menu.
Can I use it for things other than money?
Yes. Clear the $ prefix and it works for any goal with a finish line: volunteer hours, books collected, sign-ups, steps or followers.
How often should I update the thermometer?
Weekly updates, or one at each milestone such as 25%, 50% and 75%, keep supporters engaged without flooding their feeds. Put the update date in the subtitle so people know the figure is current.
Can I embed it on a website?
Download the SVG and upload it like any image, or use the PNG. The graphic is static, so re-export it when the total changes.
